My Favorite Hummus Recipe

I have tried for so many years to make a delicious hummus using RAW sprouted garbanzo beans – to no avail.  No matter what – I couldn’t get it down.  I didn’t like the flavor.  It always tasted a little harsh to me- almost too RAW, to bitter, to woodsy.  But I also got tired of buying it in the store only because of the preservatives added to keep the shelf life longer.  So what’s a girl to do?????

I decided to bite the bullet and use canned ORGANIC garbanzo beans and Voile!  It totally changed my life!  Life became pure and simple again and after one bite – I got over the whole “I can’t believe I used cooked beans” guilty feelings.  I do believe using canned organic beans were much gentler on my digestive system as well.  I basically used the “Best Hummus Recipe” from Allrecipes, but tweaked it to my taste and to the ingredients I had in my pantry.

My Favorite Hummus Recipe

1-15 ounce can Trader Joe’s Organic Garbanzo Beans with Sea Salt (save the liquid to use later)

3 tablespoons Trader Joe’s Organic Tahini

2 tablespoons Olive Oil

1 tablespoon Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

1/4 saved liquid from can

3 cloves garlic grated

1 teaspoon Cumin

Pinch paprika – optional

Fresh parsley – optional

Place garbanzo beans, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, saved liquid, garlic, and cumin into a food processor and process until smooth, about 1 minute. Transfer to a bowl and sprinkle top of hummus with paprika and fresh parsley.

Serve it up with RAW Flax Crackers or serve with fresh cut veggies!

Healthy snack in less than a minute

I compare this recipe to those “dump cake” recipes where you simply dump all the ingredients in one vessel (in this case it’s a food processor).  It also alleviated my fear of making hummus!

Try it for yourself!!!
